City of Mayflower, Arkansas

2-21-21

From Mayor Holland:

12:40 PM

"At this point and time we have west of town all pressured up and filling.

The Red Oak Road water (tank) is being filled and should be filled by 3:00 PM today.

There were no water leaks on the city (side) in that area.

We started at 9:00 AM this morning filling the east side of town which is Hwy. 89 south, and that part of the system is at full pressure with no water leaking on the city side.

Then about 1:30 PM today we will start filling the north side of town and hopefully be all pressured up by 7:00 PM today if there are no problems."

8 PM

From Mayor Holland:

"CITY

At this time the Mayflower Waterworks has completed two sections of the water system. First section was the city. Section two was residents on Paradise, Jackson Avenue and Dogwood area. After these two sections were completed the level in tank was at a concerning level. In order to be able to continue filling other sections, we have to fill the tanks to a safe level before continuing to another section of water system. This is a slow process when the water system was completely empty. It takes several thousand gallons to fill a section and maintain water pressure in that part of the system. The rate of water coming into the tank can’t keep up with rate of the water that’s being used. So please be conservative at this time so we can get the system filled in a timely manner."

12:30 PM

WHAT I KNOW: Community Water has confirmed that the water level in the tank is still too low to move on to the western section. They are waiting another 1-1.5 hrs so the level can increase to a more acceptable level.

WHAT I KNOW: The water district has been broken down into five zones so they can work on getting one functional before moving on to the next one.

For it to be deemed "functional," it must keep the pressure up for eight hours. The first section has been turned back on, and the plan is to move on to the next one around noon today.

When you notice that your water is back on, PLEASE USE AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE.

(Laundry, dishwashing, leisurely showers, etc. will only prolong the process.)

*Remember to boil it before consuming it or giving to pets.*

WHAT I DON'T KNOW: I (personally) don't know where each zone is located to be able to share with you.

ETA FOR SERVICE IN YOUR AREA: There is absolutely no way to give you a definite time, but if we continue to do as the water dept asks, it could be Sunday evening for the rest of us.

So, if you need water before then, please make alternate plans now while the sun is shining.

Many thanks to our guys who have been enduring the freezing temps to restore our water service. We sure appreciate your hard work!!!
