ORDINANCE 2008-10

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 2007-10, PROHIBITING PIT BULL BREEDS OF DOGS WITHIN THE CITY OF MAYFLOWER; AMENDING MAYFLOWER MUNICIPAL CODE, PRESCRIBING OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

 

WHEREAS , the Mayflower City Council has determined that Ordinance 2007-10 prohibiting pit bull breeds of dogs, provided for a five (5) number AKC registration tattooed on the abdomen on the upper side of the left rear leg, and requiring a one million dollar ($1,000,000.00) umbrella policy, and Mayflower Municipal Code §20-19-512 should be amended; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Mayflower City Council to amend Ordinance 2007-10 as provided in Section 1 herein.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Mayflower, Arkansas:

SECTION 1.

That Ordinance 2007-10 is hereby amended and modified to read:

Section (d) 5: Or a micro-chip identification shall be attached at the owner’s expense

Section (d) 6: A policy of liability insurance in an amount of not less than $100,000.00 Mayflower Municipal Code §20-19-512 be changed to Chapter 6.14

SECTION 2.

Ordinance 2007-10, as amended hereby, shall be and remain in full force and effect.

SECTION 3.

That the provisions of this Ordinance are severable and if any section, phrase or provision shall be declared invalid or held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remainder of this Ordinance.

SECTION 4.

That all ordinances and resolutions and parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 5.

That the City Council has found and determined that the amendment of Ordinance 2007-10 is immediately necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the City. Therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
