1. Wes Tackett and Greg Griner, of Lamar Advertising, had applied for a permit to place a billboard on the empty lot, owned by Rogers and Dillon Demolition & Excavating, north of Shaw Electric. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw voiced opposition to the proposed location, stating that the billboard would encroach and potentially harm their business. Lamar emphasized there would be no overhang onto the Shaw property. It was suggested that they move the billboard to the north end of the lot and was countered with existing trees prevent it being placed on that end.
Chairman Green-Fornash asked that Lamar provide the Commission with a Property Owner Permission Statement granting them consent to use the lot, then informed them that the next avenue would be to apply for a variance. The Planning office was tasked with sending them a variance application and checklist. Mr. Shaw, also, requested a copy of Ordinance 2017-02 to be sent to him.
Commissioner Wekkin made the motion to wait for the variance, and Commissioner Lovell seconded the motion. The motion passed with all ayes.
2. 72 North Dogwood application for a front yard privacy fence was withdrawn.
Announcements: Chairman Green-Fornash asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Wekkin made the motion; Commissioner Tugwell seconded the motion. The motion passed with all ayes. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:26 PM.
