MAYFLOWER PLANNING COMMISSION
JULY 13, 2021
Vice-Chairman Chad Patterson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Angela Patterson called roll.
Commissioners in attendance for the meeting were Delbert Dawson, Danny Hester, James Oliver, Angela Patterson, Chad Patterson, Sammy Reynolds, and Stephen Smedley. Jana Green-Fornash and Cliff Wekkin were absent. We have a quorum.
Approval and/or Changes to Minutes: Commissioner Oliver made the motion to accept the minutes as printed from the May 11, 2021 regular meeting, and Commissioner Reynolds seconded the motion. Commissioner Oliver made the motion to accept the minutes as printed from the June 24, 2021 workshop, and Commissioner Smedley seconded the motion. Both motions passed with all ayes.
General: Ken Tugwell and Curtis Lovell resigned from the Commission; Danny Hester and Stephen Smedley were appointed as replacements at the June 22, 2021 City Council meeting. Commissioner Hester attended a stakeholder’s meeting at Metroplan on July 13th for the Regional Greenways Plan to provide input on locations for trails in/surrounding Mayflower.
Unfinished Business: JM Crites met all previous requirements for the unnamed lot in River Plantation Phase 6. Commissioner Reynolds made a motion to grant final approval to begin construction at 54 River Cliff Drive, seconded by Commissioner Hester. The motion passed with all ayes.
Commissioner Reynolds suggested a second workshop on zoning the land around the new overpass, so Commissioner Hester offered to check on Metroplan’s availability to meet with the Commission to preview Mayflower’s revised zoning districts.
New Business: Jimmy Ferguson made a request to place a detached, portable carport on his property. A sketch was submitted showing the setbacks and placement of the carport. Commissioner Hester made a motion to grant approval contingent upon obtaining a building permit from the City Clerk, seconded by Commissioner Oliver. The motion passed with all ayes.
Announcements: There being no further business, Vice-Chairman Chad Patterson asked for a motion to
adjourn the meeting. A Patterson made the motion; Commissioner Smedley seconded the motion. The motion passed with all ayes, and the meeting was adjourned at 7:56 PM.
